1. Who we are

MOTCheck UK (motcheck-uk.co.uk) is operated by [COMPANY NAME] Ltd (company no. [pending registration]), registered office [registered office address]. We are an independent private information service. We are not a local authority, HM Government, a regulator, or a law firm, and we are not affiliated with any of them.

2. What you are buying

The MOT History & Mileage Report (£2.99, one-off) is a digital report compiled automatically from published public-sector datasets and our rules engine at the moment of purchase. It is information, not legal, financial or mechanical advice. It does not replace a mechanical inspection, a test drive, the seller's own documents (V5C, service history, MOT certificates), or the free GOV.UK MOT and tax checkers. It does not include outstanding finance, insurance write-off or stolen-vehicle data, which are held in licensed commercial and police databases we do not access.

3. Accuracy and limits

We rely on third-party datasets (listed on our Data Sources page). MOT test records and tax status are as published by DVSA and DVLA at the moment of the search; tests can be recorded late, odometer readings are typed by testers and can contain clerical errors, and vehicles under three years old have no MOT history. Each report shows which layers were live, sample, or unavailable at the time. You must verify anything you intend to rely on with the seller and the official GOV.UK services. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for loss arising from reliance on the report, and our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

4. Digital content and cancellation

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days to cancel. Because the report is digital content delivered immediately, at checkout you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once delivery begins. If the report cannot be generated we refund in full. See our Refund Policy.

5. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. We never see or store your card details. Prices include VAT where applicable; a receipt is emailed by Stripe.

6. Acceptable use

Personal or business use for the vehicle you searched. No scraping, resale of raw output, or automated bulk querying without a written API agreement.

7. Intellectual property

Report layout, rules engine and text are ours. Underlying public-sector data is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0 and remains Crown copyright / the copyright of the publishing body.

8. Governing law

England and Wales. You may also bring proceedings in your home nation of the UK. Complaints: support@motcheck-uk.co.uk. If unresolved you may use the EU/UK ODR platform or Citizens Advice consumer service.
